Never Been to Therapy Before? Start here!

  • Starting therapy can be very overwhelming! Read our therapist bios to see who may be a good fit for you. Or, fill out this contact form and we'll contact you. All of our therapists offer free 15 minute consultations so you can "try one on" before financially investing in a therapist

  • Being nervous is so normal! It can be vulnerable and uncomfortable to talk about intimate details of your life with a stranger. Our therapists will help you feel more comfortable by taking it easy for the first several sessions in an attempt to build a trusting relationship with you. If you can, communicate with your therapist that you're feeling nervous. This will help them know where you're at and will navigate gently.

  • Choosing a therapist is like choosing flavor of ice cream. One flavor isn't for everyone! We recommend that you give your therapist a few sessions to get to know you before deciding. If you decide that your therapist isn't a good fit for you, give us a call or email and we'll either have you try out another therapist in our practice, or give you a referral to a trusted therapist in the community.

  • Therapy helps for many different reasons! It can help you understand yourself better, resolve conflicts, and cope with stress and other challenges.

It can also help you learn to manage unhealthy reactions and increase your ability to handle distress

If you're coming for couples therapy, therapy helps by having a non-biased third party help you communicate and problem solve.

  • This is such a good question! Therapy is not a “one size fits all approach”. It is an investment in yourself and/or in your relationship. There are many, many layers that contribute to relationship and sexual struggles. It will take time and commitment from the client in order to address all of the layers that contribute to your presenting problem. While we're not interested in having you be in therapy forever, we are invested in your long term health and healing rather than just giving "band-aids" to your problems.

  • This will be different for everyone. For some people, therapy may feel like gym workout with your mind and your emotions- exercising and strengthening different parts of your brain. Some people like the gym, some don't. You and your therapist will work together to decide how therapy will look for you. You and your therapist will come up goals on how you want your life to be after therapy is complete, and you will collaborate together on how to get you the life that you're looking for.
